Dreamer Preparation
Genesis 37:5
I. Attitudes the dreamer must learn to have
a. Love in spite of being rejected by others and especially your loved ones
i. His family Genesis 37:5, 11
ii. His employer—Potiphar
iii. His friends in the prison
b. Have a positive attitude even while living in serious problems
i. In the slave market
ii. In Potiphar's house
iii. In the prison
c. Keep going even when you are misunderstood by your family or your employer--Potiphar
II. The dreamer must learn to be patient
a. He must learn to wait on God
i. Joseph knew that God was going to bring his dream to pass
ii. He had a good attitude even while living in the middle of chaos
b. Learn the lessons where you are now, do not forget that God is making a man of God
i. Take advantage of every step of your life
ii. He learned administration while a slave and later while he was in prison
c. Learn to work without making excuses or complaining
i. Any other person would have had an opportunity to complain or destroy things around him
ii. Don’t be the slothful person with lots of excuses
III. The dreamer must learn to enjoy intimacy with God
a. He was lonely, He had lost his family and solo only had his relationship with God
i. He had no one to spend time with
ii. Being alone he learned to spend time with God
b. There in the presence of God He learns that it is God that gives the dream and God that will bring the dream to pass
i. Birth, death, and resurrection of a dream
ii. We must die to ourselves
c. We must keep our hearts and minds on the Lord God Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 4:8
