1. Be sure what you teach is real in your life before you teach it to others Romans 2:21-24
a. Continuing to grow and be faithful to God requires discipline I Corinthians 9:27
i. To have your personal prayer and Bible reading time
ii. To be faithful in giving and serving
iii. To be faithful in witnessing to and inviting people to Christ
b. Make sure that you are in love with the Word of God and its truths. If they do not excite you then they will not excite your students Psalms 119:140
c. Our goal is to be what we are taught to be long before we teach it Matthew 23:3-12
d. Remember every move you make is being watched II Corinthians 3:2
i. They will learn far more from your life and example than they will from the lesson
ii. Remember to glorify God with all that you do Colossians 3:17, 23
2. Remember that your strongest and best tool as a teacher is love II Corinthians 5:14
a. He loves us with an unconditional love Romans 8:35-39
b. His love is to be shed abroad in our hearts Romans 5:5
c. Your love will cause you to notice when they are absent, sick, hurting, in need, or even in sin
d. Your love will dictate how you will react to them in every moment of their life
3. Treat the word of God like wisdom and have a godly attitude about its truths
a. It is better than gold or silver Proverbs 16:16
b. Getting truths and teachings from the word of God should be your desire and your delight
i. Incline your ear and apply your heart Proverbs 2:2
ii. Cry out for knowledge Proverbs 2:3
iii. Seek and search for her, dig out the truth Proverbs 2:4
