Hebrews 9:26
· We have a message of good news
· This is a great opportunity to give out the gospel—Easter weekend
· We must go as missionaries to our work places, neighbors, friends, etc.
I. Once
a. Our sin required a sacrifice
i. Sin entered the world through the first man Romans 5:12
ii. All in Adam must die I Corinthians 15:22—example all the first born in Egypt
iii. All in Christ are made alive
iv. The wages of sin Romans 6:23
b. Every year the high priest entered with blood once 9:7
i. For himself
ii. And for the people
iii. Blood of animals 9:12
c. Jesus Christ came to take away the sins of the world John 1:29
i. He died once 9:28, Romans 6:10 and never again
1. Dies no more Romans 6:9
2. Death hath no dominion
d. He obtained eternal redemption 9:12
e. Nothing else can get rid of sin
II. Put away
a. The guilt of our sin I Peter 2:24
i. Our lawyer I John 2:1
ii. He is our intercessor Hebrews 7:25, 9:24, Romans 8:34
b. The power of sin
i. We are no longer slaves John 8:34
ii. Free to serve God Romans 6:18
c. Even the memory of our sin
i. The promise Hebrews 10:17
ii. Blotted out Isaiah 43:25
III. Sacrifice of Himself
a. Made sin for us II Corinthians 5:21
b. He became the payment for our sins I John 2:1, Isaiah 53:10
c. He became a curse for us Galatians 3:13
d. The just paid for the unjust I Peter 3:18
e. Our salvation comes from His righteousness Romans 10:3-4
