Dedication Service

 

Romans 12:1

 

  • We are come here to thank Him for all that He has done for us
  • We are here to dedicate this place and ourselves to Him for His service and worship
  • We are here to promise Him that we will use what He has given us for Him and not ourselves

 

I.                     It is our reasonable service

a.      There was no way I could get to Heaven or God I Corinthians 6:9-11

b.      He purchased my salvation by His sacrifice Hebrews 9:26, 10:12

c.      He was my substitute in payment for my sin II Corinthians 5:21

d.      He gave me the gift of salvation simply because of His grace and mercy Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9

e.      He fills me with the Holy Spirit

f.        He guides and directs my paths through the Holy Scriptures

 

II.                   We give a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God

a.      This speaks of our obedience John 14:15

b.      This speaks of not doing our own will Romans 6:16

c.      Baptism is a picture of this sacrifice

                                                              i.      It is our obedience

                                                            ii.      It is our identifying ourselves with Him

                                                          iii.      It is our testimony to others that we are saved

d.      Thanksgiving is a sacrifice of praise Hebrews 13:15

 

III.                  The dedication is your presenting to God your life and all that you have

a.      He wants us to recognize where we get what we have I Chronicles 29:11-12

b.      Everything we have came from Him

c.      All we give back to Him was His to begin with I Chronicles 29:14

d.      Baptism is your recognizing the power of God to save you, keep you, and deserve your honor and service

e.      If He died for all then we should not live to ourselves II Corinthians 5:14-15

  • What hinders you from being baptized—you must first believe
  • There was a lot of water—they both went in
  • A symbol of what happened with Jesus—we are buried and raised to walk in newness of life Romans 6:4

 

 

 

1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1Co 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

 

Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

 

Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

 

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

 

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

 

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

 

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

 

1Ch 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

1Ch 29:12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

 

1Ch 29:14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

 

2Co 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

2Co 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
