Joshua 23
· Joshua is old and about ready to die
· He reminds them of all that God has done until now
· They have the promise of God and the promised land but getting satisfied, lazy, and disobedient can cause them to lose it all
I. Continue growing in the Lord
a. Remember that God has done the work in your life 23:3
b. Do right. Obey the Scriptures! 23:6
c. Separate yourself from sin 23:7
i. Not to mention the name of false gods
ii. Not to serve or swear by them
iii. Not to bow down to them
iv. Biblical separation is still important Romans 16:19, I Corinthians 14:20
d. Cleave unto the Lord 23:8
e. Victory is yours 23:9-11
II. How to lose all your blessings!? 23:12
a. Going back to the old nations
b. Falling in love with them and the ways that they do things
c. Strong friendships and alliances
III. God’s promise and relationship with us
a. His blessings are dependent upon our obedience 23:12
b. If you turn back then God will no more drive out your enemies 23:13
c. Your enemies will become snares and traps
d. Nothing of the word of God has failed 23:14
e. If you disobey you will be destroyed from off this good land—you can lose all the blessings of God. 23:15
f. God can be angered and cause you to perish 23:16
