Joshua 10

 

·        The actual attack took place against Gibeon and not Israel but Israel’s responsibility

·        Know that many times Satan’s attacks will come against your family making it even harder to stand

·        In total 5 kings and 6 more cities will be taken

·        Every battle won brings more under the control of the Lord Jesus

 

I.                     Every victory brings more battles

a.      God wants to take us from victory to victory II Corinthians 2:14

b.      The enemies feared greatly 10:2

c.      The enemies get together and all attack at once 10:4

d.      Problems seem to come together and seem like more than we can handle. 5 kings came I Corinthians 10:13

e.      Discipleship is an everyday decision

f.        The Christian life requires hard work and discipline—spend time with God

II.                   The secret to more victories

a.      Be sure to be at Gilgal when the attack comes

                                                              i.      the place of dedication 10:7

                                                            ii.      the place of circumcision

b.      Respond suddenly without delay 10:9

c.      Trust God to win the battle 10:8

d.      Step out by faith knowing that God has already won the victory –Reckon in Romans 6:11, Joshua 10:10,11

e.      Expect God to do even the supernatural 10:11—more from hailstones than sword

f.        Keep fighting until the battle is won 10:13—even if God has to stop the sun in its place

g.      Know you don’t just wait on God to do the work 10:40-42

                                                              i.      Joshua smote

                                                            ii.      God fought

h.      Call on God in the midst of the battle for a miracle 10:14

III.                  What do you do when the victory is won

a.      Keep returning to Gilgal 10:15, 43

b.      Search for hidden enemies 10:17

                                                              i.      These kings represent sins that can be hidden in your heart and life

                                                            ii.      Don’t deal with just the symptom deal with the root problem

                                                          iii.      Are your thoughts in captivity to Christ II Corinthians 10:5

                                                           iv.      Have you dealt with your fear, lust, anger, bitterness, shame

c.      Make sure you leave no enemy remaining 10:40

d.      Put your feet on the necks of the fallen kings 10:24-25, Romans 16:20

e.      Praise God for the victory He has given you

f.        Prepare for the next battle 10:25

                                                              i.      Commanded to fear not

                                                            ii.      Not to be confused, discouraged

                                                          iii.      Be strong and of good courage
