Birth, Life, Death, …..??

 

Luke 16:19-31

 

  • 81% of Americans believe in God and the afterlife
  • 79% believe that man has a soul that will live forever
  • 76% believe Heaven exists
  • 71% believe in the existence of Hell
  • Less than half believe that Heaven is to spend eternity with God
  • Only 1/3 of the people believe that Hell is torment and suffering
  • Less than one percent of Americans expect to go to Hell
  • 1/4th admit that they have no idea what will happen to them after death
  • The more education and income that one has makes them less likely to believe that Heaven or Hell exist

I.                     Death is not the end

a.      At death all human beings leave their bodies to spend eternity or for ever somewhere 16:22-23, II Peter 1:13-15

b.      The decision as to where you spend eternity is decided before you die Proverbs 11:7—name written in the Book of Life or not Revelation 20:15

c.      There will be a judgment after death Hebrews 9:27

d.      There will be no moving from one eternal destiny to another 16:26—everlasting life John 3:16, Matthew 25:46

II.                   What happens at death?

a.      We leave our bodies II Peter 1:13-15

b.      Once we leave we do not come back Job 16:22

c.      Our bodies go back to the ground as dust Genesis 3:19

d.      We immediately arrive at our eternal destiny Luke 16:22-23

e.      We take nothing with us Psalm 49:10

f.        The spirit or you separate from your body Ecclesiastes 8:8

III.                  Why does God want anyone to go to Hell?

a.      God doesn’t want anyone to go to Hell I Timothy 2:3-6, II Peter 3:9, I John 2:1-2

                                                              i.      Man’s rebellion or sin separates Him from God Isaiah 59:2, John 3:18

                                                            ii.      God’s love provides a payment for your sin John 1:29, I John 2:2

b.      You choose to reject or accept His salvation John 3:36

                                                              i.      You choose to receive Him or not John 1:12

                                                            ii.      You choose to believe or not John 3:18

IV.               What happens when a believer dies

a.      Even in the split second the angels are there Luke 16:22

b.      You immediately arrive in the presence of God II Corinthians 5:6-8, Philippians 1:23

c.      Jesus is waiting on your arrival Acts 7:55-56, Psalm 116:15

d.      We are going to a prepared place John 14:1-3

e.      Pleasures for evermore Psalm 16:11

f.        Heaven will be great gain and much better for us Philippians 1:21-23

 

 

 

 

2Pe 1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

2Pe 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

2Pe 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

 

Pro 11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

 

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

 

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

 

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 

Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance

2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

 

Phi 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Phi 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

Phi 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

 

Act 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

Psa 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
